Dhanteras the festival
remarks the beginning of Diwali Festival. It falls on the thirteenth lunar day
of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu month of Ashwin
(October/November) where "Dhan" means wealth, and "Teras"
refers to the thirteenth day.
Dhanteras holds great
significance, especially for businesses and households, as it is believed to
bring prosperity and wealth. People worship Lord Kubera, the God of wealth, and
Goddess Lakshmi on this day. It is also considered an auspicious time for buying
gold, silver, utensils, or any new items as a token of good luck.
How we Indians celebrate Laxmi Pujan?
Laxmi Puja or Lakshmi Puja, marks the beginning of the Diwali festival.
We worship Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu deity of wealth, prosperity, and fortune
on this day. Laxmi Puja falls on the third day of the Diwali festival, which
typically occurs on the new moon day in the Hindu month of Kartik
(October/November).
It believed that on
the day of Laxmi Puja, Goddess Lakshmi visits homes that are clean, pristine,
beautifully decorated, and well-lit, bringing prosperity and wealth to the
households.
How we celebrate Bhai Dooj in India?
Bhai Dooj or Bhau Beej celebrates the bond
between brothers and sisters. It falls on the fifth day after Diwali, marking
the end of the Diwali festivities. Bhai Dooj is a special occasion to honor the
unique relationship between siblings.
Sisters offer gifts to their brothers as a
symbol of love and affection. It's a gesture to express gratitude for the
protection and care provided by the brothers. In return, brothers also offer
gifts or money as a token of appreciation and promise to safeguard their
sisters.
